A report by Fraunhofer ISI and Consentec highlights soaring energy needs for Germany’s industrial decarbonisation. By 2045, hydrogen-focused scenarios project a demand of 442 TWh of hydrogen and a 40% rise in electricity use to 300 TWh. Electrification scenarios foresee nearly doubling electricity demand to 425 TWh, with hydrogen use at 201 TWh.
