The clean energy sector led job growth in 2023, adding 142,000 new positions and accounting for more than half of all new energy jobs. According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2024 report, clean energy job growth outpaced the rest of the energy sector and the overall economy, growing at more than twice the rate. For the first time, unionization rates in clean energy surpassed those of the broader energy sector. These trends signal a major shift, fueled by investments in infrastructure and inflation reduction, paving the way for thousands of new quality jobs across the nation.
