Australia’s big battery storage market is surging ahead, with new projects and expansions far surpassing expectations. The Western Downs battery in Queensland, initially planned at 270 MW, will double in size thanks to a new contract, making it one of the largest in the country. With battery construction starts already nearing 2024 forecasts, and larger storage durations becoming the norm, the industry is rapidly scaling to support renewable energy time-shifting.
